1. Who is responsible for your data
The Vertical Formula is operated by Karl Martin Kambek, who acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us via Instagram @theverticalformula.
2. What data we collect
- Account data — your name and email address when you create an account or sign in (including via Google sign-in).
- Purchase records — which tier you bought, transaction status, and related identifiers, so we can grant and manage your access.
- Support and coaching messages — messages you send us, coaching session requests, topics, and notes you submit in the member dashboard.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, used for security and product improvement.
Payment card details are collected and processed by Paddle (our Merchant of Record), not by us.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
- Providing the service (account creation, course access, coaching scheduling) — performance of our contract with you.
- Security and fraud prevention — our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe.
- Product improvement — our legitimate interest in understanding how the service is used.
- Customer support — performance of contract and legitimate interests.
- Legal obligations — record-keeping and tax compliance where required.
- Marketing emails — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Who we share data with
- Service providers — hosting, database, authentication, and email delivery providers that process data on our behalf.
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the product, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where needed.
- Authorities — where required by law.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
6. Retention
We keep your personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above — generally for as long as your account is active, plus any period required by law (for example, tax records). Data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to processing, data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. We respond to requests within one month. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via Instagram @theverticalformula.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database.
9. Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your theme preference. We do not use marketing cookies. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time.
